Translation memory ™ is a technology that allows translator to store translated phrases and terms for a reuse in future translations. Use of TM tools reduces translation costs and increases speed of translations, especially with repetitive documents, such as manuals and web sites. As only one translation is used for a particular phrase or term, a greater linguistic consistency is achieved over the complete document or project.

Localization (also known as L10n) is the conversion of a product (software, website, on-line help and relevant documentation) from its source language to the target language of the audience in a different country, culture, or region of the world. Localization is a broader concept than translation, because it involves not only linguistic but also cultural, legislative and other adaptations to the needs and requirements of the local audience.
